The setting

This venue is a lovingly restored retreat on 200 acres of privately owned parkland, with an award-winning hotel and restaurant, holistic treatment rooms, and two elegant event spaces that can be hired exclusively for wedding celebrations.

Middleton Lodge weddings can be held in the Georgian Main House, which has a sweeping staircase, large reception rooms, a private croquet lawn, and a garden marquee, or in the two-acre Walled Garden and Fig House, which is hidden away behind restored brick walls.

The aesthetic 

Each space has been designed uniquely, drawing inspiration from the surrounding countryside. Botanical themes are subtly woven into each lounge, cosy nook, and bolthole scattered throughout the estate.

The interiors are refined yet casual and offer a welcoming environment where guests are encouraged to relax and unwind.

The honey-coloured stone, lavender, and wildflowers add a Mediterranean feel to the estate during the spring and summer months. In the autumn and winter, roaring fires, hearty dishes, and flickering candles add a sense of cosiness to any space.

Middleton Lodge’s Walled Gardens, redesigned by renowned landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, are filled with lush greenery and the scents of British flowers, with four arbours, one for each season.

The originally restored Fig House‘s large windows and doors open onto the large terrace and fill the space with natural light, with Fig vines trailing up the brick walls.

The Boiler House Bar, which serves delicious garden cocktails, has deep velvet green sofas, open fires, and handpicked botanically inspired antiques.

The capacity and accommodation

Middleton Lodge weddings at the Main House can accommodate up to 120 guests, with dining for up to 32 guests in the Dining Room or 170 guests in the Garden Marquee.

Parties for up to 110 people can be held in the Main House alone in the evening, with space for 200 people in the Garden Marquee.

15 double bedrooms located around the sweeping staircase can be reserved exclusively for guests. Additional rooms are available at the Coach House, Dairy, and Farmhouse.

The Fig House can accommodate up to 90 guests for Walled Garden ceremonies, with seating for 130 guests.

There is enough space for 200 guests to dance the night away in the evening.

10 bedrooms, including both the Potting Sheds and the Orchard Rooms, can be reserved exclusively for each wedding, with additional rooms available on request.

Drinks and food

The Library Bar and Drawing Room serve drinks and canapés. 

During the summer, guests can sip something refreshing on the private lawn and terrace.

Your wedding reception will be served in the Dining Room for up to 32 guests, or in the garden marquee for up to 170 guests.

Middleton Lodge offers a seasonal wedding feast inspired by the estate and Yorkshire countryside produce, including a Yorkshire garden feast, featuring: 

• Canapés– you will select six canapés for your guests.

• Service– choose from their served wedding breakfast menu or our relaxed buffet menu.

• Evening food– depending on your tastes, you can eat street food, freshly baked floured buns, or a ploughman’s table.

They have a handpicked drinks and cocktails menu to complement everyone’s taste buds. 

Using fresh fruit and herbs from the Kitchen Garden, their mixologists create a selection of delectable sparkling cocktails and their estate sommelier created their wine lists, which are sourced from a variety of regions. As well, they have a good selection of beers.
